Why we make it:
We wanted a soap that felt bright and functional for everyday use. Rosemary has long been valued for its cleansing and clarifying qualities, and it pairs beautifully with a simple coconut oil base. We source our rosemary essential oil for its clean, herbaceous character that works well on its own without needing anything else added. It’s a soap that feels especially good in the morning or any time you want something fresh and straightforward.

Why we make it:
‘When we started out on our soap-making journey we wanted to create a traditional cold process soap that was different to regular shop-bought soap - a cut above. After much testing, recipes and trial and error we settled on 100% coconut oil as our base, the lather is second to none, it's so mild and gentle on the skin. And being ‘superfatted’ - (the rather unflattering term that means more oil is in the soap than chemically turns to soap) it is lovely and moisturising too. Many of our customers use us to help with sensitive skin so having an essential oil-free soap was a necessity.

In addition to its cleansing prowess, our soap naturally possesses antibacterial properties, thanks to its carefully selected ingredients. And let's not forget about the therapeutic effects our essential oil blends offer. They not only provide a delightful aroma but also work wonders for your well-being.
Why we make it:
‘When I was inventing this essential oil blend I wanted a citrus combination but with all the bitter citrus - so bergamot (found in Earl Grey Tea) and Petitgrain were the obvious bedfellows. There is something about the scent of a grapefruit that just appeals to me - I try and eat one every day and love the intensity of the scent and flavour. They take me back to seeing my Nan eat them. I hope you love this scent just as much as I do for its uplifting and zesty almost woody scent.’

Why we make it:
‘We already had our signature citrus blend (in our citrus hand balm) when we started making our soaps - but scent-wise wise this blend is like all the citrus Rowntree fruit pastiles in one! A very uplifting and ‘bright’ scent that is immediately familiar and heartening. We use only the finest essential oils, so this soap will instantly awaken your senses, creating a feeling of energy and vitality.’

Why we make it:
‘We already had our best-selling Lavender Hand Balm before we started making soaps and knew we had to have a Lavender soap in the range. It’s one of the few essential oils that is truly happy on its own. We sourced a lovely lavender-growing family down in the Cotswolds and have bought their essential oil ever since. The type of Lavender is known as ‘intermedia’ (Latin and all that) but it is by far and away my favourite of the Lavender family and is instantly calming and emotionally stabilising, a perfect soap to use when you want to wind down.’

Why we make it:
We had so much fun experimenting with our favourite essential oils to create this unique blend – Juniper being one of our favourite essential oils - totally unrelated to the fact that it is the scent of gin :). This blend took some getting right - on its own Juniper takes some ‘rounding’ as a smell. So we use cedarwood (smells like pencil sharpenings - in a good way) with a little ylang-ylang to round out the mid-tones. The result is both outdoorsy and gin and tonic-like. After a shower with this bar, I always feel grounded and ‘together’.
Scent:
Juniper purifies, lemon refreshes, cedarwood stabilises, and ylang-ylang harmonises, creating an aromatic journey that invigorates the spirit and soothes the soul.

Why we make it:
‘We already had our Floral Blend (in our Floral Hand Balm) when we started to make soap - but the Exotic floral and slightly citrus edge to this blend had to be in soap form too! Ylang Ylang is immediately exotic and floral but a very ‘round’ smell so we wanted to liven it up with a little Lavender sharpness and Lemon vibrance. The final blend is warm, exotic and floral with just a hint of citrus peel. A real all-rounder a sweet, floral, and exotic fragrance.’

Why we make it:
‘What's more head-spinningly delightful than the heady scent of Roses - we wanted that smell for our soap, Geranium rose is that smell! A smell that just evokes freshly cut flowers, greenhouses and personally the smell of my mum's conservatory full of pelargoniums. Pared with a little citrus and the mid-tone of sweet orange this is just a gloriously English Rose Garden-like smell - packed full of top notes and mid notes, sharp, floral and a true celebration of Geranium Rose.’

Very rose-like, English country garden vibes with its geraniums and pelargoniums - lovely and rounded.

Why we make it:
‘When we moved from Sheffield to live in Holmfirth we found some incredible woodland and forest walks. Trying to capture and recreate that scent became a personal mission! I wanted to end up with a blend of pine needles and a resin-like smell that the resin of a pine tree smells like. So with a ‘menu’ of pine, fir needle and cedarwood essential oils, I developed what I think is a lovely blend and one that is nothing but pure outdoors - in remote places. Every time I use this bar I’m transported to the tranquility of being in wild spaces and remote places.’

Why we make it:
‘It would be hard to imagine a range of soap without a mint one. One of my favourite scents has always been Spearmint (I think it takes me back to childhood and eating spearmint softmints.) Although this is a surprisingly soft scent by itself - so to bring something to the party I used peppermint and Tea Tree. Which certainly liven things up. The result is a very moreish scent that both enlivens and also is one you cannot seem to get enough of (the same blend is in our foot balm). The best of all things mint and tea tree. My go-to when I need a little mental stimulation in bath or shower form.’

Why we make it:
‘Patchouli is without question eternally linked to hippy vibes: love and peace and all that. My father-in-law always uses it as an aftershave so it has great family connections. With it being such a great base note I decided to just go earthy and base-note-heavy with this essential oil blend - so with Vetiver and Patchouli this is pure base notes - earthy, grounding, earth mother, musk, hippy folk - all blended into one. Peace, Patchouli and Vetiver Love.’

Soap #12 - Floral, resinous and gently age-supporting – Active essential oils: Neroli & Frankincense.
Imagine starting your day with a soft floral brightness from neroli, lifted by the warm, resinous depth of frankincense. This soap brings together two traditional botanicals known for their skin-supporting qualities, creating a bar that feels both uplifting and grounding in equal measure.
Neroli offers a delicate, floral citrus note that feels bright and calming on the skin. Frankincense sits underneath it with a rich, woody-resin character that has long been associated with skin renewal and care. Together, they form a balanced blend that feels refined, steady and naturally restorative.
Both essential oils are traditionally valued for their skin-supporting properties. Neroli is often associated with helping promote a radiant, healthy-looking complexion, while frankincense is known for its long-standing use in supporting skin that appears smoother, firmer and more even. Combined, they help leave the skin feeling clean, comfortable and well cared for.
This is a soap designed for daily use, with a simple coconut oil base that produces a rich, creamy lather. The essential oil blend gives it a subtle aromatic depth that lingers softly without overpowering.
Why we make it:
We wanted a blend where both oils are clearly present, rather than one sitting behind the other. Neroli brings lightness and lift, while frankincense provides depth, structure and a more grounded feel. Frankincense remains the backbone of the blend, with neroli adding brightness and clarity on top. It’s a combination that feels timeless and well balanced.
